For the last time in the season, the "Correspondances
d'Artistes" will go public: Saturday April 28, 2007 3:00 pm, at the Ateliers Berthier in
Paris. This new appointment will echo to the creation of "THERESE philosophe -

Mots Parleurs" offers an exceptional reading in full voice by Valerie Delbore and Carole
Bergen of the unpublished texts written by Lydie Salvayre and Luba Jurgenson in echo to
"THERESE philosophe".
Paris April 13, 2007 -- Throughout the season 2006-2007, the theater "Odeon-Theatre de
l'Europe", the "Mots Parleurs" and the House of writers bring together various talents to
organize a creative confrontation - comment, counterpoint - between four dramatic works,
created in the theatre, and four times two contemporary authors. The fourth creation to
enter the play is "THERESE philosophe - roman-sur-scene -", a French 18th Century
anonymous and unusual novel, frequently assigned to Boyer dArgens, brought to the
stage and directed by Anatoli Vassiliev. Saturday 28 April 2007 at 3:00 pm, the
Association "Les Mots Parleurs" (the words that speak) offers a reading in full voice
interpreted by Carole Bergen and Valerie Delbore -in French- of the writings of Lydie
Salvayre et Luba Jurgenson, the authors who accepted to write in echo to "THERESE
philosophe" and to experiment an to renew the exchange with the public. This exceptional
reading will be followed by a confrontation, led by Maria Mailat - writer and
anthropologist, between the public, the authors, the director of the play and the
interpreters from the "Mots parleurs" .
The play directed by Anatoli Vassiliev at the Odeon Theatre is derived from one of the
most unusual French Eighteenth Century novel : Therese philosophe. Published in 1748,
this anonymous text, frequently assigned to Boyer dArgens, was very much
appreciated by the marquis de Sade. The heroine, who is also the narrator, is
alternatively initiated to the joys of pleasure and to the libertine philosophy,
accepting a sensuality that is no longer subordinate to the masculine pleasure.
Some words about the authors who enter the play in echo to "THERESE philosophe":
Lydie Salvayre was born in a family of Spanish republican exiles. Lydie Salvayre went
to France with his parents. At first, the language of Moliere was hard to learn but she
wasn't long to fall in love with it. However she doesn't renounce to her Spanish culture.
She is a psychiatrist and a novel writer. She practices the medicine in a centre that
helps young patients. Well known writer, Lydie Salvayre has written some ten novels, of
which "La déclaration", "La puissance des mouches", "Passage à
lennemie".
Luba Jurgenson was born in Moskow in 1958 and lives in Paris from 1975 on. She wrote
novels, short texts and essays. She translated into French works of Oblomov, Gontcharov,
Nina Berberova and Varlam Chalamov. Co-director of the collection Poustiaki (Russian
literature) at Editions Verdier. In charge of the full edition of the "Recits de la
Kolyma" by Varlam Chalamov published by Verdier in 2003, she teaches the Russian
